Final Photography assignment

So, most people in my class did the smart thing and used an auto movie maker to make their video. Instead, for “fun” I decided to use after effects (which I have never used before) two days before it was due. It’s 2am now, and I am just finishing up. It’s by far not the best piece of art I’ve ever made, but it was a really really good learning experience. All the swirls and whatnot were hand made (I am too cheap to buy video copilot assets right now) and I took all the pictures. Audio credits at the end of the video.

You can see all the photos on my rather poorly kept picasa site:

Masquerade mask

I needed this in order to work as a photographer for a local event (Ottawa Goth Syndicate Masquerade ball)

You know, taking the classic “selfie”  is easy to do with a phone. It’s a lot harder with a DSLR.

Made from scratch: tinfoil, paper mache, hot glue, some old ribbon and gold lace, and some new paint. I’m trying to talk my birds into lending me some feathers, but no takers yet.

Photography exam

part of my photography exam.

Project:

This project was our final photography exam at Algonquin College. We were to take several photos illistrating principles of photography, including depth of field, simplicity, rule of thirds, exposure/appature, siluette etc. We had a reasonably tight deadline to get all of these pictures in to be edited.

Description:

These photos were taken with a Nikon 3100 by Jaimie Thom.

Outcome:

Excellent grade in photography class and a new appreciation for photography. Also a number of freelance jobs came out of taking this class. See some of my work since then on flickr:
